- I drank a lot of water today. I usually don't like to drink water, but I'm rediscovering the joys of ice water.
- I read for pleasure and education. It's about Narcissistic Personality Disorder and the book is called, Why Is It Always about You?: The Seven Deadly Sins of Narcissism by Sandy Hotchkiss, LCSW. Enlightening and highly recommended, as well as sometimes upsetting. The book invites a compassionate and clear look at oneself, as well as strategies for dealing with those self-absorbed, entitled people in our lives from family and friends to coworkers and celebrities.
- I worked out. I went at it with the weights this morning for a couple of hours. Watching a DVD between sets lengthens the workout time, but it also makes it more pleasurable and bearable. Finished A Scanner Darkly, a science fictional account of Philip K. Dick's struggle with drug addiction. It was an oddly engaging film, and I noticed my ability to pay attention to people's speech patterns to identify them, even when I couldn't recognize the voice itself (there are these "scramble suits" that undercover cops wear in the future that preserve their anonymity). I'm not sure I would recommend this film, but I've enjoyed other adapted works by Dick, such as Blade Runner, Total Recall, and Screamers. I've yet to subject myself to Next and Paycheck but I do have a high cheesiness tolerance (except when it's hurled at me).
- Lit candles and am enjoying a bit of candlelight this evening. Why the heck not? It calms me and creates a mystical ambience.
