Funky fun, spiky terror

Fugu! Acrylic on canvas, 24" x 24"

Okay, so I should give you guys something nice to look at if I'm not going to be painting for a while. I've got my nose in psychology books and my brain is overflowing with theories and disorders. Whee!

Here's one of my favorite paintings, Fugu! You can click on the image to read the description, see detailed pics, and to bring this happy fella home.

When I was making this painting, I became obsessed with pufferfish lamps. That's right, a lamp made from a pufferfish. Humans are so weird.

I'm sure PETA will be pounding on my door at any sec, but it is my hope that the pufferfish that sacrificed its life to attain lamphood had its flesh duly eaten and enjoyed (fugu is Japanese for pufferfish, and it's a delicacy there--mostly because you can get a nice tingly sensation from the neurotoxins in the flesh or die from it; preparation of the dish is by licensed professionals only!). Circle of life, my friends, circle of life.

Anyway, just as tobacco has been a kind of "thank you" for alcohol (who's winning now, paleface?), I have to say that my pufferfish lamp has gotten the last laugh. Why?

Because anywhere I hang it, I think it's going to fall on me and impale me.

So I just keep it in my closet.

Ha ha, fugu. Ha ha.

Invite Beauty,

I.
